North Vernon, Indiana is the newest site for mission trips led by One Way Ministries. Hosted by Bible Baptist Church and Pastor Kevin Ridder, this location promises to be an exciting and life-changing time for people interested in serving a community for the glory of Christ.
As one of the largest mobile home sites in the US, this county is also noted as having the highest teen pregnancy rate in Indiana. What a great opportunity to love God and love people here! Participants will be involved in a variety of ministry projects including community outreach, sports evangelism, door to door surveys, backyard Bible clubs and more! Join us on the field in this new location as we seek to make the glory of Christ known!


Location

North Vernon, Indiana is located one hour South of Indianapolis, Indiana and one hour North of Louisville, Kentucky. The county beyond the town is very rural and dispersed with pockets of little communities and trailer parks. Places of interest locally include: Seymour, Indiana (home of John Mellencamp), Colombus, Indiana (the biggest city nearby), Brown County (popular tourist attraction) and Madison, Indiana (a local river town.)

Recently, there were 6,515 people and 2,665 households in North Vernon, Indiana. Of the 2, 665 households, 33.1% of them had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.9% were married couples living together. Median income for a family was $41,020. Jennings County has the highest rate of teen pregnancy in the state of Indiana.

Climate

The weather in Indiana is generally mild with temperatures averaging 85 degrees in the summer with lows in the upper 60’s. In the winter, temperatures dip into the 20’s and average 40 degrees during the day. The spring and fall brings cooler temperatures with the average temperature during the day in the 60’s and at night, temperatures dip into the 40’s and 50’s. North Vernon receives on average of 45 inches of rainfall per year. The rainfall is primarily spread equally over each month but the rainiest month is general is May.
